Southern Flow, Inc was contracted to provide the integration services for the first ground water supply plant in Forsyth County. This project consisted of four (4) control panels with remote IO and motor starter to control each of the four ground wells. Each control panel contained IO for well flow, well discharge pressure, well level, motor status and control, and discharge valves status and control. The four control panels all communicated via fiber optic back to a central PLC control panel installed in the plant building. The central control panel housed a CompactLogix PLC and 15” touchscreen allowing for operator control and monitoring of the plant.

Control loops in the main control panel included well pump control, closed loop discharge valve control based on booster pump suction pressure, chemical feed control, booster pump control, water quality analysis, and alarm management. The system is able to be controlled and monitored locally from the OIT as well as remotely from the Antioch WTP via the County’s fiber optic system.

Southern Flow also provided a balance of instrumentation including flow meters, submersible level transducers, pressure transmitters, chlorine analyzers, pH analyzer, and turbidimeter. Instrument calibration, configuration and start-up was provided and documented as part of the start-up procedures.
